Currently on display at the Heath Center Art Gallery at John Wood Community College is my latest solo exhibition called Exploring Abstract Expression. It consists of over 60 of my latest abstract paintings using fluid acrylic, textured acrylic, and encaustic mediums.

As a creative explorer, I’m always searching for new ways to experience life through art. One thing I’ve learned is that I’m inherently drawn to abstract expressionism. This is a term applied to abstract forms of art that were developed in the 1940’s and 1950’s that are often characterized by gestural brush-strokes or mark-making, and the impression of spontaneity.

Taking what I learned from old masters I’ve tried to apply them in new, simplistic, and structurally sound ways.

In this show I felt it important to show the breadth in scale of the work I’ve done in recent years while I have the opportunity to fill a gallery like the Heath Center Art Gallery. I’ve seperated my work into groups that visually demonstrates the evolution of my expressionistic experiments over cronological time.

The majority of this work has been shown stylisticly grouped in galleries and public spaces over the last few years.Together, I think will show consistent effort to adopt and master different mediums and techniques, rather quickly, into my abstract visual language.Trying new things, experimenting, and expressing myself is critical for maintaining interest in the process.
